Thrift Shop - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Featuring Wanz



"Thrift Shop" is a song by Seattle-based American rapper Macklemore and his producer Ryan Lewis. It was released as the fifth and final single from their collaborative debut studio album The Heist (2012) on August 28, 2012 and features vocals from Wanz.

Despite being released on Macklemore's independent label, with distribution by ADA, the single was met with unexpected commercial success, also a sleeper hit, peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, while selling 6.2 million copies in total. The song also reached number one in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Canada, France, Denmark, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand. Furthermore the song has garnered more than 300 million views on YouTube, this number steadily increasing. The song is the first independently-distributed title to top the Billboard Digital Songs since "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" in February 2010. It is also only the second independent song in history to achieve the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, nearly 20 years after Lisa Loeb's "Stay (I Missed You)" in 1994. A music video was released to accompany the song's release on August 29, 2012. It was used in the trailer for the film The Internship.

Body - Party Ciara



"Body Party" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Ciara for her fifth studio album, Ciara (2013). It was written by Ciara, Nayvadius "Future" Wilburn, Michael Williams, Pierre Ramon Slaughter, Carlton Mahone, Rodney Terry, and was produced by Mike Will Made It. The song premiered on March 4, 2013, via Billboard.com and was released as a digital download on March 8, 2013, as the lead single of her fifth album. Epic Records serviced the single to Rhythmic contemporary radio in the United States on April 9, 2013. Musically, "Body Party" is a down-tempo R&Bsong that samples "My Boo" by Ghost Town DJ's.

"Body Party" received positive reviews from critics who praised the slow synthesized production akin to songs by Prince and R. Kelly. Upon release, the song charted at thirty nine on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and has so far climbed to number eight. The song also debuted at number thirty-five on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Ciara's first Top 40 hit on the chart since 2009 with "Love Sex Magic" featuring Justin Timberlake and 13th in total.

The song's accompanying music video, shot by Director X, tells a story of the first time when Ciara and Future met. Aside from Future, the video featured cameo appearances from artists including Ludacris and Trinidad James. The video received positive reviews from critics as well as from musical peer Nicki Minaj. The song's official remix was released on May 16, 2013 and features Future and B.o.B. Ciara performed the single for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live in June 2013.

Bad - Wale Featuring Tiara Thomas



"Bad" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Wale. It was released on February 5, 2013, as the first single from his third studio album The Gifted (2013). The song, produced by Kelson Camp, features a guest appearance from Tiara Thomas. "Bad" has so far peaked at number 25 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it Wale's second top 40 entry after "Lotus Flower Bomb", and becoming his highest-charting single as a lead artist.

Power Trip - J. Cole Featuring Miguel



"Power Trip" is a song by American hip hop recording artist and record producer J. Cole, released February 14, 2013, as the lead single from his upcoming second studio album Born Sinner (2013). The song, produced by Cole himself, The song features American singer-songwriter Miguel, with whom he previously collaborated with on "All I Want Is You" in 2010. The song samples "No More" by American musician Hubert Laws.

The song debuted at No. 29 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week, selling 42,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It took off online as well, skyrocketing to more than 100,000 plays on Cole's SoundCloud page in less than a day." The song was released to Urban contemporary radio on February 19, 2013. The song has since peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his second Top 20 single in the US, after "Work Out", and number 46 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming his highest charting single there. The song has also became a Top 5 hit on US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and US Rap Songs, peaking at 5 on both charts.

"Blurred Lines" is a song recorded by American R&B recording artist Robin Thicke, for his sixth studio album of the same name (2013). Featuring guest vocals from American rapper T.I. and American singer and producer Pharrell, the song was released as the lead single from "Blurred Lines" on March 26, 2013 through Star Trak Recordings. The R&B song was produced by featured guest Pharrell, and was written by him along with Thicke and T.I.

The single has so far peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, as well as topping the Billboard R&B Songs chart. It has also become his most successful song on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #6 (he previously climbed as high as #14 with Lost Without U, back in 2007). The song has been a worldwide hit and reached number #1 in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, the Netherlands and the UK and the top 10 in Belgium, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and the United States. Comparisons have been made between the instrumentation and musical style of "Blurred Lines" and Madonna's 2008 single, "Give It 2 Me", which was also co-written and co-produced by Pharrell Williams.

The accompanying video was directed by Diane Martel and released on March 20, 2013. The video depicts Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell standing around while they flirt with scantily clad models (Emily Ratajkowski, Jessi M'Bengue, and Elle Evans). The video was released in two versions; the first features the models topless, the second features them covered. The unrated version of the video was taken down from YouTube on March 30, 2013, citing violations of the site's terms of service that restricts the uploading of videos containing nudity, particularly if used in a sexual context.

Beautiful - Mariah Carey Featuring Miguel




"Beautiful" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriters Mariah Carey and Miguel. It was written and produced by Carey and Miguel, alongside Nathan Perez and Brooke Davis; Perez also aided in producing the song. Released on May 6, 2013, Carey and Miguel did not reveal that they had collaborated on the song, until April 25, 2013, when Carey revealed the title in a 25 second teaser video during season twelve of American Idol. It was also on Idol, on May 9, that Carey premiered the official music video for "#Beautiful", before uploading an alternative edit to her VEVOaccount, that is set to the explicit version of the song.

"#Beautiful" is a mid-tempo and stripped down R&B, soul and pop track, which garnered critical acclaim from critics, many of whom were complimentary of Carey's decision to collaborate with Miguel. After garnering an audience impression of 31 million in its first two days of radio airplay, the song debuted at number 44 on the US Radio Songs chart. Carey taped a perfomance of the song along with a medley of her greatest hits on May 15, 2013; the taping aired the following day on the Season 12 finale episode of American Idol. The song is currently positioned at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

"Next to Me" is a song by Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé. The single was first released in Ireland on 10 February 2012 as the third single from her debut studio album, Our Version of Events. "Next to Me" was written by Sandé and co-written and produced by Hugo Chegwin and Harry Craze. On the week ending 23 February 2012, the track debuted at number one on the Irish Singles Chart, also topping the Scottish Singles Chartand peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart. The single was also the first single from the album in the United States, released on 17 April 2012, and it became her first to reach the top 40 of the US Billboard Hot 100, charting at number 25. "Can't Hold Us" is a song by American rapper Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis from their collaborative album The Heist (2012). Featuring singer Ray Dalton, it was released as the third single from the album on August 16, 2011. The song also features additional vocals by actress Susannah Wetzel, who sings portions of the chorus alongside Dalton.

The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their second number-one hit in the United States. It is also their third consecutive number-one single in Australia. In early 2013, the song was re-released and featured in a U.S. television commercial for Microsoft's Outlook.comwebmail service and in commercials for the drink Miller. The song was also used in the background of ESPN College Gameday commercials and in the March 2013 premiere episode of MTV's The Real World: Portland.

The radio edit cuts out portions of the introduction, as well as the extended bridge section and an alternate beat during the last chorus. The beat is similar to their live performances of the song. The song is in the key of E minor
